The Great Duke Nukem Forever to be Released on May 3

Game Review

Duke Nukem Forever
Let gamers of all schools rejoice, Duke Nukem is finally back.
The announcement was made by both 2K's Christoph Hartmann and Gearbox's Randy Pitchford on January 22.
"May 3, 2011 marks Duke's return [in the US] as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. To coincide with the announcement, developers have also released a trailer for the long-awaited game.
Fourteen years of development hell made Duke Nukem Forever redefine the term vapour ware. Based on the versatile Build 3D engine, the game looked dated in front of true 3D games like Quake. You can read our nostalgic take on Duke Nukem 3D here.

The videogame industry has changed a lot since Duke Nukem 3D released well over a decade ago. Let's hope in these times of focus groups, overzealous censorship, retailer boycotts and blanket countrywide bans, Duke Nukem manages to hold onto its inherent irreverence and political incorrectness.
Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford announced a May 3 release date for North America and May 6 for the rest of the world for Duke Nukem Forever – a title that has become a joke amongst gamers as a game that would never see the light of day.

Duke Nukem Forever will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 starting May 3, but players can take a peek at a playable demo through the Borderlands ‘Game of the Year' edition.
